Viewer’s Letter

I think I know what it is you were looking for and I’d like to share my experience and ask that you let me know if this was what you were seeking.

I tried to read the Bible every day for at least ten minutes. For the most part, I did pretty good. I even got so rapt in my reading on a few days that I read for an hour or more.

This past Thursday, I had a very rough day at work. My co-workers all seemed to be in bad moods and were just overall mean. As you can imagine, that put quite a damper on my day.

When I got home that night, I wasn’t feeling very motivated to read my Bible. In fact, I was feeling angry and not in any mood to read at all.

I did as you suggested last week and decided to relax myself in a quite place and pray to God for guidance.

I really didn’t feel Him answering me or giving me any instruction, so I said “Amen” and simply sat quietly for a few more minutes.

I don’t really know how to describe this to you but, suddenly, my room felt cooler. My body seemed to slump (I was on my knees). There was a overwhelming calmness in my house as I heard the wind blowy gently outside on my patio (it hadn’t been a windy day at all – believe it or not).

I closed my eyes and opened my Bible. I then stabbed my finger on a page. It was precise, but near to where I pointed was this verse from John 15:26 – But I will send you an advocate-the Spirit of truth. He will come to you from the Father and will testify all about me.”

This was it right? This was the guidance you spoke about last week?

From here, I went on to read the rest of John 15 where I found verse 18: If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first.” The words from Jesus.

This was what I had experienced all day that afternoon. Nothing but hate from my co-workers and this verse reminded me that, although I felt hated that day, they hated Him first.

How did I do? 😉 Sincerely,
Kathy D., Gainesville, FL
