I’m So Ugly

We all have times in our lives where we don’t feel we’re worth anything to anyone. Society around us beats us down, knocks us to our knees and makes us feel like we are nothing but dirt under everyone’s feet. We feel unworthy, have no sense of pride and feel as though we simply don’t belong.

Tell me if the following statements really do summarize how you may feel:

  • I’m very ugly
  • So don’t try to convince me that
  • I am a very beautiful person
  • Because at the end of the day
  • I hate myself in every single way
  • And I’m not going to lie to myself by saying
  • There is beauty inside of me that matters
  • So rest assured I will remind myself
  • That I am a worthless, terrible person
  • And nothing you say will make me believe
  • I still deserve love
  • Because no matter what
  • I am not good enough to be loved
  • And I am in no position to believe that
  • Beauty does exist within me
  • Because whenever I look in the mirror I always think
  • Am I as ugly as people say?

It is at these times we need to remember our value to God… remember the lessons our Lord and Savior taught us during His time on earth and realize how valuable we truly are in God’s eyes.

Here are just a few verses to remind you:

1 Peter 3:3-4 – “Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.”

2 Corinthians 2:10 – “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

Psalm 34:5 – “Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame.”

Look-up to your God. Remember your value to Him and read these bulleted points again from bottom to top (reverse order). Read them out-loud to yourself and listen. In doing this, you will find the real truth. Perhaps then, you will think again, understand and never forget.

Our God Loves You and You do Matter!
