Giving Up on God?

How many times have we thought “this is too hard; I can’t do this anymore; I must be doing something wrong; I’m not who I am supposed to be.”

As Christian people, we face challenges that no other people face. We’re watched with scrutiny and every move we make and every action we take is judged by those around us who think they understand how God wants us to live and who He wants us to be. Are they right; are we acting inappropriately or are they just judging us out of misunderstanding and ignorance?

We have all had these feelings from time-to-time but need to understand and fallback on our Bibles to help us truly understand the power or God’s great Love and all the wisdom He has provided us.

Here are some focal points that we really should be concentrating on to fully understand the mission that has been given to us and the path that God has asked us to undertake.

Be Strong – while this seems a simple thing to say it isn’t always as easy as it sounds. Today’s society has put many burdens upon us and, sometimes, the challenges seem too difficult to overcome but, reading God’s word, its something we need to concentrate on in the difficult world we live in.

1 Corinthians 16:13 – “Be on the alert, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong.”

Psalm 31:24 – “Be of good courage and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the Lord.”

…and let us not forget

Philippians 4:13“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”

Trust in our God

If we truly believe in our God then it is up to us to trust in Him. We have seen over and over again in our personal lives how He has stood beside us through times, good and bad, He has walked the path beside us and continues to do so each and every day of our lives.

Proverbs 3:5-6“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”

Psalm 112:6-7“Surely the righteous will never be shaken; they will be remembered forever. They will have no fear of bad news; their hearts are steadfast, trusting in the LORD.”

Why Worry?

We already know the strength of our Father. We have seen His great works and we have read the stories of His wisdom in the Bible. Why then, should we have reason to doubt that He will always be beside us, guiding out footsteps and every decision we make?

Matthew 19:26“But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.”

Job 42:2“I know that you can do all things; no purpose of yours can be thwarted.”

We will NOT be Forsaken

For all our Lord as done for us and all that He has given should we believe He would ever forsake us or abandon us on this journey. We know of His power; we know of His might… why would we ever give up on our tasks that He has given us here on this earth? We just need to be the humble people He has asked us to be and continue on our mission as He has instructed us to do.

Hebrews 13:5-6“Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?”

This is one of my favorite versus in the Bible…

2 Corinthians 4:8-12“We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that his life may also be revealed in our mortal body. So then, death is at work in us, but life is at work in you.”

We Will Have Trials

The path that God has given us is no easy task by any stretch of the imagination. Why would it be? We live in a world that challenges us every day with petty, insignificant problems that we may, or may not, consider beneath us but, nonetheless, they are a chore.

James 1:2-4“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”

…and our rewards?

2 Corinthians 4:16-18“Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”

Let’s Not Forget About Prayer

How many times have we spoken about the power of prayer? How many times must we hear this before we actually understand and do the things that God has asked us to do? Pray to him… pray to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ but remember to open your hearts to the answers that will provided to you.

We are told this again in…

Psalm 55:22“Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.”

Hebrews 11:6“And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.”

Do Not Despair, Don’t Give Up Hope and Continue Doing Good Things

It’s such a difficult thing for us to do but we need to understand that God is there beside us every step of our journey. We need to keep up the faith, continue walking down the path of kindness and remember why we are here in the first place.

Romans 5:5“And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.”

Galatians 6:9 – “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”

Go with God… keep believing and doing the things that He has asked us to do and you will never be forsaken

Be good to one another, Humble and Kind.
